Sometimes I grab on to phrasing and I don’t let go. My lit professor first noticed this. She said I had a nice way of saying things, but that it wasn’t very academic. Still, I couldn’t bring myself to change. She said I was in love with my words. I guess that’s the nicest way to put it, when she really meant–you’re a stubborn bastard, Shelby.
If she had said that, I wouldn’t have argued. We all know it’s true.
